The self-proclaimed “odd-bird” concept is slated to open its doors in fall 2022 at 4031 Hillsboro Pike, Suite 901, transforming the space that formerly served as California Pizza Kitchen.
“Our restaurants are all created differently, inspired by different experiences from all over. Doughbird is inspired by flavor, almost a compilation of the best flavors and dishes that I have tried, applied to two of my favorite foods — pizza and chicken,” said Fox in a press release.
Doughbird’s unexpected menu highlights include both hand-stretched and Detroit-style square pan pizza with toppings like truffle and butternut squash and herb ricotta. Chicken is prepared rotisserie style or fried, ready to be dunked in any combination of Doughbird’s extensive sauce list.
A large bar serving craft cocktails, local beers and wines makes Doughbird a perfect spot to catch a game or spend happy hour, according to the release.
Doughbird began reinventing American classics in 2017 and has two Arizona locations. Its flight to Nashville signals the city’s increasing prominence as a destination for powerhouse restauranteurs.
“We’re very excited to keep growing in the area and hope that Doughbird leaves the community craving more,” said Fox in a press release.
Nashville is quickly becoming a second home for Fox, an 11-time James Beard Award semifinalist, who has three other ventures in Music City. In 2019, Fox brought North Italia to Green Hills, followed by Blanco Cocina + Cantina at Fifth + Broadway in 2021.
Fox also partnered with Justin Timberlake to launch The Twelve Thirty Club on Broadway late last year.
Phoenix-based Fox Restaurant Concepts began in 1998 and now has 11 restaurant concepts with more than 60 locations in the U.S. Its growing roots in Nashville will continue to add to the explosive growth of the city’s food scene.
“Fox Restaurant Concepts’ Nashville presence is strong and growing and we are thrilled to have the first Doughbird open at Hill Center Green Hills,” said Jimmy Granbery, chair and CEO of H.G. Hill Realty Company, in the release.
